It’s a true honor to be one of the first artist featured at this inspiring and prestigious sites (over 50 000 “likes” at Facebook!). The crew for This Is So Contemporary! also asked me to make a video of something that inspired me – and I made my first collage film ever to them! I call it “Juicy Jamboree – a YouTube Collage Film by Mia Mäkilä!” It’s made out of short snippets and clips from my favourite videos of the most bizarre, fun, strange, weird, corny and inspiring things I’ve seen on YouTube! The most kissed face of all time

In the late 1880s, the body of a 16-year-old girl was pulled from the Seine. She was apparently a suicide, as her body showed no marks of violence, but her beauty and her enigmatic smile led a Paris pathologist to order a plaster death mask of her face.
In the romantic atmosphere of fin de siècle Europe, the girl’s face became an ideal of feminine beauty. The protagonist of Rainer Maria Rilke’s 1910 novelThe Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge writes, “The mouleur, whose shop I pass every day, has hung two plaster masks beside his door. [One is] the face of the young drowned woman, which they took a cast of in the morgue, because it was beautiful, because it smiled, because it smiled so deceptively, as if it knew.”
Ironically, in 1958 the anonymous girl’s features were used to model the first-aid mannequin Rescue Annie, on which thousands of students have practiced CPR. Though the girl’s identity remains a mystery, her face, it’s said, has become “the most kissed face of all time.”

Here is my new blog (I will keep this one too of course). It’s all about me and my muse Domenique.
We have worked together since 1995 when we were teenagers (in the 90’s and Madonna was our GOD). I am the photographer, I write scripts for our projects, they are my visions and Domenique is the model, make up artist, stylist and my muse and friend.
Domenique is the art-love of my life.
When we’re working together – everything in the world falls into place. Our visions become one. And there is true magic in the air when we work (but sometimes we fight too – and the magic turns to thunder and lightning).
This is our story.
It’s a story – all about my muse.
